The Dallas Bulls are seeking a strategic, experienced, and visionary Director of Scouting to lead and oversee all aspects of the team’s scouting operations. This position is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s scouting philosophy, evaluating amateur and professional talent, and building a comprehensive talent pipeline that aligns with the Bulls' short- and long-term competitive goals.
Leadership & Strategy
Develop and implement the overall scouting strategy in coordination with the General Manager and executive leadership.
Lead and manage a team of regional and national scouts, ensuring effective coverage and consistent evaluation criteria.
Establish performance standards and development plans for the scouting staff.
Talent Evaluation
Oversee the scouting and evaluation of amateur, collegiate, and professional talent domestically and internationally.
Prepare in-depth player reports, rankings, and assessments to support draft, trade, and free agency decisions.
Attend key events such as combines, showcases, tournaments, and pro days.
Collaboration & Decision Support
Work closely with the coaching staff, analytics department, and player development personnel to align scouting insights with team needs.
Contribute to the preparation for drafts, trades, and roster decisions with data-driven and film-based scouting insights.
Technology & Analytics Integration
Champion the use of modern scouting tools and data analytics to enhance talent evaluation.
Collaborate with the performance and analytics teams to integrate advanced metrics into scouting reports.
Compliance & Ethics
Ensure all scouting practices are conducted in compliance with league regulations and ethical standards.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all talent evaluation processes.
Minimum 7-10 years of scouting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role.
Proven track record of identifying and developing high-potential talent.
Strong understanding of player evaluation methods, including film breakdown, in-person scouting, and statistical analysis.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business, or related field preferred; advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus.
Deep knowledge of [insert sport here, e.g., football/basketball/baseball] operations and talent pipelines.
Passion for building a championship-caliber roster and a strong scouting culture.
Experience with scouting software (e.g., Hudl, Wyscout, Synergy, etc.) and analytics platforms.
