Aquia Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our government affairs team for Summer 2025. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the federal policy landscape with a focus on energy policy, permitting reform, nuclear energy development, and the growing demand for power generation driven by artificial intelligence technologies.

Internship Responsibilities
  • Track and monitor energy policy legislation and regulations, with particular focus on permitting reform and clean energy initiatives
  • Research and analyze nuclear energy policy developments and regulatory frameworks
  • Monitor policy discussions related to energy infrastructure needed to support growing AI computing demands
  • Attend and summarize congressional hearings, committee markups, and policy events on energy issues
  • Draft client-facing materials including policy memos, legislative summaries, and regulatory analyses
  • Support coalition-building efforts among energy industry stakeholders
  • Analyze federal and state-level initiatives for clean energy deployment and grid modernization
  • Provide real-time updates on relevant legislative and regulatory developments
  • Contribute to business development initiatives through research and material preparation

Qualifications
  • Strong interest in energy policy, environmental regulation, and the intersection of energy and technology
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about permitting processes, nuclear energy regulations, and power infrastructure
  • Understanding of how data centers and AI computing technologies impact energy demands
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Prior relevant experience through internships, coursework, or extracurricular activities (Capitol Hill or campaign experience a plus)
  • Rising undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate/professional student in political science, environmental policy, energy studies, public policy, or related field
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Willingness to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the federal regulatory process and energy policy landscape preferred

Position Details
  • Duration : Summer 2025 (May - August, flexible start and end dates)
  • Hours : Full-time, Monday-Friday
  • Location : Washington, DC (in-person)
  • Compensation : Paid (competitive stipend)
