Job Description
Salary: $1400 / Week
TheCancer Tumor Registrar is responsible for managing the cancer registry functionand/or provides services after establishing baseline operating status incompliance with government standards.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
· Undergeneral direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and administers the activitiesof the Medical Center's accredited cancer program; assists the Cancer Committeeand administration in meeting program standards required for accreditation bythe American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer; performs related dutiesas required.
· Positionsin this class are characterized by their full responsibility for the accreditedcancer program. The Cancer Registry Specialist is distinguished from the TraumaRegistrar by the former's need for certification issued by the National CancerRegistrars Association as a Certified Tumor Registrar.
· Thisposition reports to an Associate Hospital Administrator - ProfessionalServices.
· Establishes,develops and manages cancer registry data collection system; collects andmonitors data on cancer patients and enters into database, including follow-upand updates; identifies reportable cases of malignant diseases to include intothe cancer registry database.
· Coordinatesreporting activities on national, state and local levels; abstracts data andcreates reports; ensures program compliance and maintenance of accreditationper the American College of Surgeons' Commission of Cancer.
· Completessurvey applications for the unit; meets with regulatory surveyors during auditsand surveys; develops corrective action plans based on survey findings;implements changes and monitors and evaluate action plan effectiveness; makesrecommendations to management on new policies and procedures.
· Attendshospital Tumor Board and Cancer Committee meetings; coordinates with committeechair to organize and conduct the meetings and functions of the committeeincluding post meeting follow-up; assists physicians with special studies.
· Representscancer programs at events, health fairs and in the community by interacting andeducation the public on cancer related issues; develops and administersin-service training programs regarding cancer; may plan and organize cancerrelated events and fundraisers.
· Providesvacation and temporary relief as required.
MinimumRequirements:
+ Must be onsite in Colton, CA
+ Certified Cancer Registrar (CTR) required
+ Three (3) years supervisory experience in ACoS-approved Hospital based cancer registry preferred
+ Knowledge of the Commission on Cancer Standards Vol. I and II preferred
+ Knowledge of North American Association of Central Cancer Registries Standards preferred
+ Maintains certification and NCRA membership, as well as appropriate state association memberships as required by state and/or contract
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
+ Knowledge and experience of Cancer Registry software programs(s) preferred
