Overview:
By Light is hiring a Technical Writer/Editor of Proposals.
Responsibilities:
- Proposal writing on responses to Federal Government IT, Cloud, and AI-related requirements, concurrent proposal section and volume development (i.e., technical proposals, White Papers, Requests for Information (RFIs)/Sources Sought, and other marketing materials)
- Develop draft outlines for proposal documents based on Federal Government solicitations including Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) and Sources Sought requests.
- Produce structured written content of a technical and non-technical nature Work in a highly collaborative environment to collect information and support strategy development
- Ability to lead or support technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews and translate technical information into proposal content
- Augmenting individual and teamwork with strong research capabilities using open source tools for Customer and opportunity specific analysis
- Assist in producing other marketing collateral in support of sales activities Developing graphic concepts to communicate technical and management processes, work closely with Graphics Specialist to support the message Ensuring grammatical correctness and compliance of all written materials
- Incorporating section reviews from other members of the team and resolving conflicts quickly Editing, standardizing, and revising material prepared by other staff members
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Strong ability to write clearly and concisely with correct grammar and punctuation
- Familiarity with Shipley model (color team process) of proposal development
- Ability to work with a variety of people in a deadline-driven, high-accountability, team-oriented environment
- Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail required
- Ability to continually learn and adapt in a constantly evolving technology environment
- Understanding of Federal Government procurement market is a requirement
- Previous experience as a Proposal Writer for U.S. Federal Government customers.
- Candidates must be willing to work on a Hybrid basis, either out of the By Light Hanover Location or Tysons VA Location.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Degree Required/Equivalent Experience w/o degree: Bachelors degree with 2-4 years work experience as a Proposal Writer.
- Experience working in SharePoint a plus
- Experience in selling IT services or other IT offerings preferred
Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
- By Light will provide a laptop and associated hardware and software.
- Core hours are 9am-5pm ET with flex time available and remote work options.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required based on project deadlines.
