About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented estimator with a passion for both residential reconstruction and large commercial loss projects? We’re looking for a Reconstruction & Commercial Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll be the bridge between project vision and execution—delivering accurate, timely, and comprehensive estimates that drive successful outcomes.

What You'll Do

The Reconstruction & Commercial Estimator is responsible for providing professional estimating services for both residential reconstruction and large commercial loss projects. This role involves managing the full estimating process—from site assessment and scope development to estimate delivery and customer communication. The Estimator ensures all estimates are accurate, compliant with insurance and company standards, and aligned with project budgets. Strong collaboration, time management, and communication skills are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

General Estimating Duties

• Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for each project.

• Create accurate sketches and scopes of work using Xactimate®.

• Deliver complete, well-defined estimates that meet company, insurance, and client requirements.

• Identify project constraints, upgrades, and exclusions.

• Work with external resources (e.g., engineers, inspectors) to ensure estimate accuracy.

• Submit comprehensive project proposal packets.

Commercial Large Loss Focus

• Conduct site visits and review project documentation.

• Provide detailed, line-item scopes for complex commercial projects.

• Divide large projects into manageable sections and document all tasks per section.

• Review and apply requirements from National Account bulletins, insurance companies, and local agreements.

• Communicate with restoration contractors and clients to clarify scope and expectations.

• Send bid requests for subcontracted work as needed.

Reconstruction Focus

• Establish and maintain customer relationships.

• Educate customers on reconstruction and insurance processes.

• Collaborate with customers to understand desired changes and associated costs.

• Communicate estimate details and customer needs to the Production Department.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Structural Engineering or equivalent work-related experience.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in claims management and/or estimating.

• Proficiency in Xactimate®; SERVPRO T&M experience is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

• Detail-oriented with knowledge of California building codes and project documentation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, driving, and sitting.

• Occasional ladder climbing and exposure to extreme conditions (e.g., heat, noise).

• Must be able to work in varied job site environments.

Working Hours and Travel

Full-time position, Monday–Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (minimum 40 hours/week). Frequent long hours, on-call availability, and weekend/holiday work may be required. Travel is primarily local, with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel.
