Arena Lead Audio Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Arena Lead Audio Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring exceptional audio experiences during Lakewood Church events. This position is primarily responsible for front-of-house audio engineering but is also capable of supporting monitor or broadcast engineering as needed. The engineer ensures the integrity and functionality of the PA system, maintains audio equipment, and collaborates with production teams and ministry leaders to deliver seamless live event execution. This role demands high technical proficiency, a proactive mindset, and strong interpersonal communication.

This position reports to the Director of Live Experience Audio Production.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee all aspects of front-of-house and monitor mixing for live events, including audio recording in the sanctuary
  • Make real-time adjustments to audio mixing, effects, and equalization to ensure the highest possible sound quality
  • Maintain front-of-house console workflow and troubleshoot technical issues during rehearsals and live events
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of analog and digital consoles, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and measurement systems
  • Assist with audio setup and ingest for video productions as requested
  • Support rental and pre-production tasks for on-site and off-site productions and video shoots
  • Participate in audio post-production workflows, ensuring efficient use of DAW environments (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic)
  • Attend production and team meetings related to role responsibilities and live event coordination
  • Demonstrate a proactive and critical mindset when troubleshooting and resolving real-time technical challenges
  • Foster a collaborative work environment through clear and respectful communication with audio engineers, directors, worship leaders, and ministry staff
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
  • Handle sensitive, confidential information and assignments with tact, discretion, and diplomacy
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge of audio engineering principles, including signal flow, acoustics, and sound reinforcement techniques
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of industry-standard audio consoles and PA systems
  • Skilled in the use of mixers, soundboards, outboard gear, digital interfaces, and production software (e.g., DAWs)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in live production environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with a friendly disposition
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and audio-related software/hardware

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BA in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in live audio engineering
  • Experience in large venue or church environments strongly preferred
